PADI Emergency First Response and Care for Children Instructor

EFR Instructors are responsible for teaching the first aid / cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) qualification to students such as PADI Rescue Divers.

By taking the first steps (listed below under prerequisites) to becoming an EFR Instructor will take you on to learn how to follow guidelines that are recognised worldwide in order to teach the course effectively so that both divers and non-divers succeed.

This qualification must be gained before you take the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) course.

Our team have scheduled this course perfectly to fit in conveniently with the IDC which helps you to achieve the requirements once you have successfully passed the IE. However, it is available as a separate course.

As an EFRI you can:

Teach essential first aid methods to divers and non-divers of all ages.

You will take two core modules consisting of

Emergency First Response – Primary Care

Emergency First Response – Secondary Care

The courses are aimed at pro diving candidates with essential skills in CPR and will allow you to administer first aid when necessary. You have a choice of taking the recommended AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and Emergency Oxygen sections.

Both courses will give you the officially recognised certification to teach courses to others.

Course prerequisites

Have completed a sanctioned course in adult and child/infant CPR within past 24 months

Have completed a sanctioned course in basic first aid within the past 24 months

Be 18 years of age

What will you do on the Course?

When you take the instructor courses you will be taught the importance of primary and secondary care as well as Care for Children.

It will educate you on how to structure your teaching so that all the requirements are covered when teaching to others.

The performance and level based learning and training will teach you about the importance of your role as an instructor in a learning environment. And you will learn about how to assess candidates, how to conduct a course effectively and how to be proficient at helping students develop their own skills through role play and scenario based learning.
